What is DA / DR (Domain Authority / Rating)?
DA (Moz) and DR (Ahrefs) are 0-100 scores estimating a domain's "strength" based on backlinks — they are not official Google metrics.
DA and DR were created by third-party tools to give comparative scores between sites. They are useful proxies (correlated with ranking), but don't replace real ranking.
The scale is logarithmic: going from 20 to 30 is easier than 60 to 70. Focus on backlink quality (niche-relevant sites) instead of "hitting DA X".
Frequently asked questions
Do DA/DR affect ranking directly?
No. They are third-party estimates. Google uses its own signals (internal PageRank, no longer public).
What DA is "good" to start ranking?
DA 20-30 already competes in small niches; 40-50 opens competitive terms; 60+ is industry benchmark.
